Funding & Rebates

There are various funding and rebate options that you may qualify for to support your therapy services. Below, we’ve listed some of the most common funding providers available:


  • National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)
  • Medicare for Chronic Disease Management
  • Medicare for Complex Neurodevelopmental Disorders and eligible disabilities 
  • Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA)

  • My Aged Care (for older individuals)

National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

We are proud to provide services under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). All services are delivered in line with the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits (PAPL) 2025–26 and the NDIS Code of Conduct, ensuring participants receive ethical, professional, and transparent support services. Our team is fully trained and experienced in supporting NDIS participants to access the therapy services they need to achieve their goals.

Medicare

We provide speech pathology services funded through Medicare for eligible  individuals of all ages. Whether you are managing a chronic condition, navigating developmental concerns, or seeking assessment for a suspected neurodevelopmental disorder, we can guide you through the appropriate pathway to access the care and support you need. 

MBS Item 10970 -Chronic Disease Management

A Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan allows eligible individuals with chronic conditions and or complex care needs to access up to five (5) subsidised allied health services (e.g., speech pathology) per year. The current Medicare rebate for allied health services is $61.80 per session. To be eligible, the chronic condition must have been ongoing for at least six months. There are no age limits that apply.


  1. Visit your GP to discuss a  CDM referral.
  2. Get a referral for speech pathology services.
  3. Attend your sessions.

MBS Item 82005 - Assessment for Complex Neurodevelopmental Disorders

Speech pathology assessments are provided for individuals under 25 years of age with suspected Complex Neurodevelopmental Disorders (e.g., Autism Spectrum Disorder) or other eligible disabilities. These assessments help support diagnosis and guide the development of an individualised treatment plan.


Referral Process:


  1. Visit your GP to discuss any concerns regarding your child or client’s development, speech, or behaviour. 
  2. Your GP will assess the need for further evaluation and may refer you to an eligible medical professional (such as a paediatrician) if necessary. 
  3. If a complex neurodevelopmental disorder is diagnosed, the medical professional can refer you for a speech pathology assessment.

MBS Item 82020 - Treatment for Complex Neurodevelopmental Disorders

Speech pathology treatment services are available for individuals diagnosed with a Complex Neurodevelopmental Disorder (such as Autism Spectrum Disorder) or eligible disabilities. These sessions focus on managing speech, language, and communication difficulties.


  1. Following the assessment, the medical professional will create a treatment and management plan based on the speech pathology assessment results.
  2. If treatment is needed, a referral will be provided for ongoing speech therapy services.

Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA)

We provide services under the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) funding program. Our team is able to support veterans and their families with access to therapy and assessments. We ensure all services are delivered in compliance with DVA guidelines, offering tailored care to meet the unique needs of veterans. Effective from 1st October 2019, referrals for DVA clients to allied health services are structured under Allied Health Services Treatment Cycle. 


This means:


  • Your referral will be valid for up to 12 sessions or 1 year, whichever occurs first.
  • Your GP will coordinate with the speech pathologist and act as your care coordinator, ensuring comprehensive management of your care.

Private Health Rebates

Nova Speech Clinic processes private health claims through Tyro Health Pty Ltd, covering 99% of privately insured clients. To confirm eligibility for rebated speech pathology services, we recommend contacting your private health fund directly.

Private Health Fund Item Numbers for Speech Pathology Services are:


  • Item 320 - Initial assessment session that lasts 46-90 minutes.
  • Item 340 - Therapy sessions that last up to 45 minutes.
  • Item 350 - Therapy sessions that last 46–90 minutes.
